Our Story

How you met, and how you came to be planning your big day.. Todd and I met through mutual friends. I was dating someone else for a long time and then out of the blue Todd started calling me over the summer of '04. This was odd because I never hung out with Todd on an individual basis and all the sudden he wants to make plans. I kinda blew him off a few times and was out of town the other times, but he was a persistent one that's for sure! The first night we hung out, we went to his brother's bonfire. That was the first time I had fun in years. We continued to hang out, but I was still not interested because I had a boyfriend. Then we took a walk at Bacon Creek and we really got to know each other and I started developing a crush on him. I guess you can say he grew on me and the rest is history and so was my boyfriend! I didn't mean for it to turn out that way, but fate was right there in my face so I cancelled my plans to attend University of Iowa, therefore missed my chance to utilize my scholarship and had to cancel my lease in Iowa City, BUT, he was all worth it and I'd do it all over again. Todd proposed to me on November 16th, nothing special about that day so it was a complete surprise. Everyone thought he was going to propose in Maui, but he said that would be too predictable. The wedding plans are so hectic at this point. We were going to do a formal wedding here in Sioux City, but the cost just kept adding up. So I brought up the idea of a Destination Wedding since we loved Maui so much. We chose Nassau, Bahamas because in the Carribbean they offer all-inclusive, which is what we wanted. Our date is Wednesday, June 13th, 2007. We were surprised at how many people wanted to go. Our guest list is up to about 20 people. We are so excited, and I'm nervous, too! We will be getting married on a gazebo on Cable Beach. I can't wait to show everyone pictures when we get back. We will have a reception in August, we wait that long because we want everyone to wind down from wedding season and we will have our photo album done by then. Our reception will be held at Troy's house. There will be fabulous food, volleyball, horseshoes, a bonfire, limbo, and alcohol galore, it should be an awesome time!
